As a jazz and contemporary pianist, Matthew Quinn employs his musical talent in a variety of ways, from commercial jingles to concert venues with some of the greatest musicians on the scene. His experience is as wide-ranging as his talents.

Matthew Quinn was born June 28, 1958 into a family of musicians residing in Newport, Rhode Island. He carried on the family tradition by taking piano lessons at an early age. Matthew studied classical music thoughout his grade school years furthering his education as a traditional composition major at Berklee College of Music.

Before he graduated from Berklee in 1980, he served as arranger and director of the prestigious Berklee Jazz Rock Ensemble as well as played trombone with the Berklee Concert Band and other big band ensembles. In addition to his training at Berklee, Matthew has since studied individually with Bob Winter, Ray Santisi, Mac Rebenack, and Dick Hyman.

After graduating, Matthew began performing with a number of established bands like Blood, Sweat & Tears, Tavares, and Herman’s Hermits. Other on-stage experiences included appearances with Annie Ross, Etta James, Eric Marienthal, Peter Erskine, and Maxine Sullivan.

Matthew’s musical talents have extended beyond stage performances to other projects involving radio and television. He has worked on several commercials produced at Sonalysts Studios in Connecticut and most notably wrote and performed the music for ABC TV’s HealthBeat series produced in Boston.

Currently, Matthew plays piano in a variety of venues throughout New England, with club dates and private functions like weddings filling his calendar. In addition to performing, Matthew enjoys teaching all styles of piano and all ages of students.
